The Met Ball is fashion’s big night out, and this year was no different, with the red carpet being graced A-listers who are bound to be on everyone’s dream party list. The Beckham’s, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Emma Stone and Johnny Depp were just a few of the stars to fork out $25,000 for a ticket to this prestigious event.

The dress code was influenced by the theme of the Costume Institute exhibition. Last year’s punk theme seemed a world away from 2014, with this year focussing on more traditional dress. The dress code for the opening night was “White Tie and Decorations”, inspired by British-born fashion designer Charles James.

First up in our best dressed list is everyone’s favourite football family, The Beckhams. By far the best dressed couple on the celebrity circuit, David rocked a cream Ralph Lauren Suit, with Victoria going for her own cream strapless gown, perfectly accessorised with a matching bracelet and earing pairing.

We’ve dreamed of Emma Stone being our best friend since she stole our hearts in teen comedy Easy A. She channelled the influence of Charles James by choosing this pastel pink Thakoon crop top/skirt partnership, which complimented her simplistic make up and side plait hairstyle.  Her summer look was a favourite in the La Redoute office, with people commenting on her laid-back, yet elegant design.

Cara Delevingne decided to ditch the glamorous dress in favour of this casual, yet sophisticated two-piece, designed by Stella McCartney.  Teaming the black top with white pants and black shoes, Delevinge managed to balance the chic look perfectly.

There’s another power couple on our list; Beyoncé and Jay Z. Despite many of the women trying to pull off the train dresses at the Met Ball, Beyoncé smashed it, stealing the limelight in her Givenchy dress. Her veil, bun and make up has a chic, mysterious 40’s, but the deep V top and split skirt gives it a sexy, elegant feel. The pair looked effortlessly cool in their monochrome outfits, with Jay Z looking slick, pairing his white Givenchy jacket with black bow tie and black pants.
